2M have a lovely Orangutan called Canyon in their class. Each week the 'top' Dojo monster is allowed to take Canyon home for a weekend of fun and writes in her diary! - Please include photos, tickets, drawings etc in Canyon's diary! Today 2M watched a video of the real life Canyon. We have each drawn our own picture of Canyon to go in her rucksack.. Miss Mills is also going to send these to the real Canyon... we hope she likes them!

In English this week we have been learning about adjectives and verbs. We described the character Jafar from Aladdin. We came up with some amazing vocabulary like Evil, Wicked and angry! We then looked at how different Aladdin and Jasmine would be and we brain stormed more adjectives! The year 2 teachers were impressed with our amazing vocabulary. Today we learnt about different verbs - ask us! We then watched a clip from Aladdin and were able to describe the movements of Aladdin and the flying carpet. In maths this week we have been looking at place value. We have experimented using denies and have learnt how many digits you can have in each column! We now know that we can only have up to 9 in each column - 9 ones or 9 tens! Today we played a place value game where we raced against the other tables to find the matching pairs (numbers and pictures of denies) The children designed a special commemorative coin in honour of Queen Victoria's 200th birthday! They all worked very hard on their designs and put lots of effort in with decorating too!
We are currently growing beans in our classroom, with a view to planting them outside in our beds. We are having much success and really enjoy coming in, in the morning, to see how much our beans have grown. We have learned about the process of germination, which is the stage of plant growth that our beans are currently going through. See this link for a video about germination: https://safeyoutube.net/w/V0in Here are a few snaps from our favourite theme this year - SPACE! |
